Absences

If your child is absent from school for whole day(s) or part day(s), for any reason, a note explaining the reason for the absence must be forwarded to school on your child’s return. It is important that this note is sent as it provides the school with the following information:
• indicates the reason for your child’s absence
• informs the school that you are aware of your child’s absence
• informs the school of any incidences of infectious diseases
If a child is going to be away for several days or more, it would be appreciated if the school could be advised by phone, and confirmed with a note when your child returns to school.
Schools are legally required to keep records of children’s attendances and the reasons for absences are part of this requirement.
If reasons for absences are not received by the school, the school will send home a reminder note. Upon receipt of such a note, parents are expected to write the reason for the absence in the space provided on the note and return to the class teacher.
