Medical

The health and safety of all students at Richmond North is of prime importance. We take these responsibilities seriously and put in place systems and procedures to ensure that these needs are met.
First Aid
Basic first aid for minor injuries suffered at school is administered by the school administration staff. In all cases where the injury is of a more serious nature we will attempt to contact the parents or emergency contact by phone. In some serious cases, an ambulance may be called.

Sick students
Children who are ill in the morning should be kept home from school.
Should children become ill at school, parents will be contacted. All sick children will be cared for by the school administration staff until a parent or nominated caregiver arrives to collect the sick child. In serious cases, if parents or caregivers cannot be contacted, children wll be transported to Hawkesbury hospital by ambulance.
Administering Prescribed Medications
Wherever possible, parents whould consult with their medical practitioner about prescribing medication that can be taken outside of school hours (3 times daily). However, if medication must be administered during the school day, parents are responsible for -
* bringing this need to the attention of the Principal and Administration Staff
* supplying the medication and any consumables necessary for its administration
* collaborating with the school in working out the arrangements for the supply and administration of the prescribed medication.
* ensuring that the school is informed if any information regarding the prescribed medication changes.
Parents of children who require prescribed medication to be administered at school must complete a written request. The School Administration staff will provide this form to the parents.
Non-prescribed medication cannot be administered at school.
Individual Health Care Plans
An individual health care plan must be developed for:
* severe asthma, type 1 diabetes, epilepsy and anaphylaxis
* any student who is diagnosed as being at risk of an emergency reaction
* any student who requires the administration of prescribed medications or health care procedures
Individual health care plans are prepared in consultation with medical professionals, support personnel, parents and teachers. Copies of these health care plans are kept in the school office as well as being displayed in the Staffroom. Copies are also made available to parents and classroom teachers.
Ambulance Services
The school is covered by an Ambulance Fund so that sick or injured students may be transported immediately to hospital, free of charge to parents. Parents may however be liable for other medical costs not covered by this fund.

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones are not to be used by students at school. If students need to have a mobile phone at school for after school purposes, they are to leave the mobile phones with the Front Office staff where they will be locked away for safe keeping.

Money Collection

All money and notes for excursions, school contributions, textbooks and school events should be returned to the school office. Money and notes should be returned in a sealed envelope with the child’s name, class and what the money is for clearly labelled.
The school office preferred day for collection of payments is WEDNESDAY. Payments can made in cash, by cheque or via EFTPOS. EFTPOS transactions can be made in person at school, over the phone or by completing payment detials on the permission/return slip.
Envelopes should be returned to the office before school and placed in the silver money collection box located in the school office reception area. If possible, it is preferable if the money returned is the correct amount exactly as it can be difficult to provide change.
Most payments have deadlines which must be adherred to as the school often also has deadlines for making payments to third parties. With the school population growing, the school office has become much busier and it is no longer possible to have the level of flexibility we have had previously with regards to payments.
Receipts for payments will be sent home with students as soon as possible.
Families experiencing financial difficulties should notify the school office if they require assistance with payments, require a payment extension or wish to enter into a payment instalment plan.
